A little about La Luz Bakery from Yelp…
First thing you feel when going into this place is…overhwelmed! What should you choose? The selection is staggering. Sweet buns galore, turnovers, cakes, flan, cookies, croissant stuffed with cream, cheese pastries, things that look like aspics that are stuffed with some sort of flowers (I have no idea what they are but they’re sheer art!) They do fresh snow cones and cakes to order. Plus…and here it is…TRES LECHE cake…heavenly and soaked with sweet creamy milk. Unbelievably addictive.
It’s mostly self-serve, so you grab a pair of tongs and a platter and begin your adventure searching through case after case of these colorful treasures. And when you’re through you discover you’ve got enough bakery for days and it only cost you like five bucks.
I love this place and the staff who are super friendly. One of the women always has a smile and never hesitates to explain what’s in any of the cakes or pastries and she always teaches me Spanish when I’m there. Hit this place up–either for that single breakfast pastry before you hop on the Metra (It’s right behind the Round Lake stop in the downtown area). Or when you need a lot of bakery because you’re having guests to tea. Cheers!

Rocks and Things is a unique store in the Historical District of Spruce Pine, North Carolina about 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and 30 miles from Mt. Mitchell. Our building is on the National Register of Historical Buildings.
We carry gemstones, mineral specimens, Native American hand made items, a few antiques, rings, jewelry, some herbal remedies, some metaphysical items, and frequency enhanced jewelry, stones and pain pads.
Our herbal remedies include the original Alpiste from Pureza, PH balancing items, MMS, Stem Enhance to promote your own stem cells to be produced by your own body, and “Good Golly Miss Molly Green Salve” to help heal psoriasis, burns, bruises, cuts, infection, recluse spider bites and more. We also carry a number of different items to help in cancer treatment.
We have many thousands of hand picked crystals from ¼ inch to 58 pounds. Most have inclusions and phantoms. We have amethyst from single crystals to 130 pound cathedrals. We also have citrine from single crystals to 60 pound cathedrals. We also have some facet grade rose quartz pieces up to 5 pounds. We have star rose quartz crystal balls. We also carry some crystal skulls.
Our mineral specimens number in the thousands also. Lots of them are not found in regular rock shops. I pride myself in having unusual things in my store.
The frequency enhanced jewelry and pain pads are a new line I have had for about a year. They can help restore your body to health. They use Scalar Frequencies to accomplish this. The pads and jewelry are enhanced with frequencies for pain and body rejuvenation. Check out “the Barron Report” on the web for information on Scalar Frequencies. Houston, TX – One of the biggest markets for “Silica Fiber Free” Alpiste is Texas. The large Hispanic community has been educating the greater Texas population on this natural dietary supplement, yet much of the fulfillment of this demand has come through local Flea Markets. Buyers beware of vendors at these flea markets supplying the general public with inferior bird food that they purchase on local wholesale markets. As of March 2016, 100% of the Alpiste sold in Mexico is still Bird Food quality. Those looking to purchase Alpiste for human consumption are out of luck for the time being. There is also the common misconception that Alpiste in Mexico is actually produced in Mexico, or that the powdered “leche de alpiste” is safe. The fact is that nearly every kilo of this potentially beneficial seed sold in Mexico comes from the Canadian (bird food) export market – Bird Food!
Work is being done to export certified “Silica Fiber Free Alpiste” into Mexico. When this is accomplished it will come with tremendous relief for people in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Guanajuato, and throughout Mexico – people that up to now have not had a safe, reliable alternative to consuming animal food.
